Would you stay safe and keep the trip Q's, or would you lose the trip q's and trade them in for a particular
stock, and if so, what stock do you think will outperform the averages?

What you get from the Thread will be opinions on various stocks
It is possible to easily smash the averages if you are willing to risk the money
Those who have $1/2 to $3mm and up, adequate income, might well and properly settle for average stock returns or company bonds or funds. At one time those did better than they would today, because the enormous trading in equities eats up the overall asset value unless more money keeps coming into the market
But the safety is very important to them
I have been in the market since 1950 and for 40 years it was rare to find an outperforming stock but dividends were common and very nice to have.
But the gamblers were the winners, those who bought Winnebago, Walmart, Hd, Msft, Orcl , Dell- they all would have been seen as a gamble at the beginning
So where does one look for the winners, knowing that IPO's are normally a disaster for buyers.?
Well, Greg is correct, the techs are the best bet.
IMO the Web is still in its infancy, as is storage ,and software will always be new and improving.
I also think that it is easy to beat Sears and other well known retail companies by investing in specialty shops
and on-line stores
Having gotten burned on the downturn, tho, I dont have that true faith in techs I once had, now I make money on them and put it into housing, Reits.
If you truly want a safe stock to beat the averages is still Dell -not a zoomer anymore, but you can gets some leverage with the Leaps.
But you probably want a faster grower. I have my opinion on what they would be but there is no guarantee and they would have to come with a whole set of directions
I am into stuff like Fdry, Jnpr, Nfi, Beas, IGT, etc at the moment but sometimes I have to drop them like a hot potatoe.
In the last few days I have bgt Fic, Nfi, Tsco, Fdry, Teva, and Pog
Good luck
