One of our party picked up the CD (London version) and it does grow on you.

I don't know why it seems to appeal more to women than to men. It involves strong and basic emotional themes--with comedy and irony to offset any pathos. The music is powerful, lyric, and evocative of primal longings: The Winner takes it all, Money money money, Chiquitita, What's the name of the game...etc.

Perhaps because the real testosterone is carried by the female leads...

In your case...how could you possibly give a credible review of the show when surrounded by nine "chicks"! You might consider seeing it under less demanding conditions... :-)
