Gee Mary, I NEVER knew who owned SI when I joined, back in July of 1996. Neither did a LOT of folks who posted. When Tokyo Joe, Big Dog, The Rocketeers, etc etc etc were posting, did the folks who owned, operated SI do anything about them as they were fleecing people, scamming, etc etc etc while they were posting for years. I knew people who were financially wrecked here on SI because of those scammy people and some of the scammy businesses they started up here on SI. Bob has told you NO INFORMATION TO BE GIVEN OUT in one of his posts. Did you not read that post? Responding to posts which you deem off topic is offtopic posting. You have violated the tou. Stop it. It's distracting to the thread. ROFLMHO Also, this site is still EXTREMELY slow for me. I hit post or preview and it says the site is not responding. Just so I don't accidentally double post, I have to go to my outbox and see if it went through. Half the time it went through, half the time it didn't. What can be done to get the site working again? Well Mary, all I can say is that it takes 9 months for a baby to develop. SI has just been impregnated and maybe it will take 9 months for it to develop. Have you reported the problem to the right authorities? Patience is needed here. When you got married, were the first few months running that smooth for you? My last post to you on this thread Mary. Have a good day if you can and try to spend some part of your day on positive things that make you smile and make you happy. It is so much healthier. <S>

I do have to say, I have noticed the slow-down of the site as well. Don't know if it anything that Bob can do anything about. He's indicated that the servers are under-loaded, so that's probably not the problem. I wonnder if the previous owner was using Akamai or a similar caching service? Naw, probably doesn't make much sense for a site like SI, other than for banners, etc. since most of the content comes from databases. Maybe it was just at a better-connected ISP before. I see it's hung off of swbell.net now, at least for me. Hopefully it is or will be at a colocation center that offers multiple backbone connections.
