i ordered the minolta S404, together
with a 128 MG flash card and ni mh batteries
with charger.

they called back to say, the S404 has been
discontinued and is being replaced with the
S414 at $20.00 more.

steves-digicams.com

so, i ordered that. and because this camera
apparently really eats batteries (alkaline types)
i wanted to order 4 more of the ni mh types.

the guy talked me into a package that included
the 4 batteries and charger, plus four extra
batteries, a case and the flash card reader for
89 bucks. i said i didn't think i needed the reader
because i could download directly from the camera
and he said yes you can, but it takes a long time
and draws very heavily on the batteries, whereas
using the reader, the power is drawn from my
computer and it is practically instant.

so, that's my story.

i've now joined the ranks of the 'with it guys'<g>
