Military bases and installations in 125 nations is something that only one nation on the planet maintains. Guess who?

So let me get this straight.. If you have 125 different friends, each of whom like you so much they let you park your car in their driveway, or who tell you "the light is always on" for you, that makes you an imperialist??

Or how about a police officer who has 125 different people who permit him to "hang out" in their houses in order to surveill and protect the neighborhood.. Does that make that cop an imperialist??

Yeah.. the US is the strongest power on the planet. And thank god we are, or we might be all speaking German or Russian... But we're HARDLY a militaristic colonial power..

We are, if anything, a loose economic confederation of various nation states, many of whom have formed relationships with us for MUTUAL benefit..

And speaking of economic empires, what would you call the EU? Are they somehow different in they manner in which all of those European nations act in conjunction to protect their interests?

And what about OPEC? Is that not an economic empire bent upon extending its influence over the rest of the world??

We obviously define imperialism differently... I don't see that its imperialism for two nations to enter alliances and basing agreements.

US is doing what it has to do to prevent future 9/11's. Oh yeah, I forgot, you're the guy who thinks Ashcroft flying in private jets was a sign that US did 9/11 to itself and that we had little guys planting explosives on each floor of the WTC so that it would implode in a way that would make it look like it was jet fuel.

Just in case anyone reading this thread doesn't realize this, I invite them to read your theories on this thread.
