StockPro makes an interesting point on moderation: "A moderator should GUIDE debate, not CONTROL it." Unfortunately, I have seldom seen stock boards with true moderators, who guide the discussion, as opposed to mearly controlling content. A good moderator would, as much as dissuade people from personal conflict, guide the discussion into interesting areas, provide starting points for discussion, solicit alternate viewpoints, etc. It would be a unique and valuable aspect of SI if the new management could foster this style of moderation.
