Any thing getting into ground water varies due to the type of ground and depth of the water table. Where I live the ground is loam soil and the water table is around 50'. Even though the area is heavily farmed nothing gets down to the ground water.

40 miles west of me, the ground is sand and the water table averages 16'. It's also farm ground and is irrigated. When the farmers apply any thing to the crops or soil you can taste it in the well water the next day. Very high cancer rate in that county.
