That's all you can do, just shine a light in your corner of the world. I try to do that on SI where I can, based on my overseas experience.

But there is no single-shot solution to American ignorance, especially in the climate generated by the current administration. I'm really glad they are doing something about AIDS (20 years into the epidemic). Heading off the deaths of 3.3 million in the Congo due to a war would have been nice too.
