There is no question that the same human rights violations were going on in Iraq and HAD BEEN for 30 years. But somehow the Iraqi people aren't worthy of rescue.

With republican help and materials....where was their humanitarian concern then? And what about the reprisals of the Bush 1 induced uprisings, in which he incited a revolt and abandoned the Kurds and Shites. You belong to a party with very dirty hands on Iraq.

Perhaps you could cite a post from me that leads you to this conclusion. If not, how about you shut the f*ck up.

You have said numerous times that the Kosovo intervention was completely unjustified. That Clinton intervened to distract the nation from his troubles. That we had no interests in Kosovo. I don't have time to dig up the posts... but you wrote them . You were not the least bit concerned about the humanitarian side of things there...and the killings were on TV everyday. You are not now.

You put the justification for the war in Iraq now squarely in humanitarian terms,

No moreso than previously; if you will review my posts you will see that I supported the war on humanitarian grounds from the outset.

Excuse me, but who are you trying to kid? This shift from worries over WMD to humanitarian concerns is a broad one that covers most of the recent rhetoric emanating from the right and that started not long after the war ended and increased in fervor as it become more and more apparent that Iraq was short on WMD and links to al Qaeda.

The right is doing everything it can to highlight how badly the Iraqis were treated under Saddam to shift the American focus from the new ground it struck in violating another nation's sovereignty simply because it wanted to, and to be able to justify this war and its cost in terms of the loss of lives and money.

If the American people let the right get away with this hypocrisy and duplicity, then they deserve everything that's coming down the pike.
