This may or may not work but after searching with Google for problems similar to yours here's what I would try.

Close excel and do a search for Excel.xlb and rename it to Excel.old. Reboot in case you have excel or the office toolbar loading at start and see if the problem disappears.

Tim,

You might want to try manually deleting all your temp files (*.tmp) and then reboot.

One of my users had a similar problem with a 5 week old PC running Windows 2000 Professional and that fixed it.

Please let us know how you make out.
