"I would say light, and heat and such are energy."

You just said that you must generate energy to get light. So what was something else, becomes light. Once generated does the light shine eternal or is it converted to something else?

You haven't defined energy. You can offer molecular evidence for the presence of energy, or increase in energy. You can offer evidence for the presence of energy in association with light, heat, sound, etc. but you still haven't clarified what energy is apart from these other entities...and you can't, so the default argument for science is that there is no separate entity called energy.
