When I say "Lifetime" I mean that to include "Grandfathered".

Keep in mind, though, that Lifers of either kind will always have the same kind of access they have now and will always have it without paying another dime.

There will be features added to the site that never existed on it before, and though some of those features will become part of the standard interface(s) and available to all Lifers for no other fees, there will be other features that will only be available as a separate, paid-for package. The "premium" package, including the new bells and whistles, will go for something along the lines of $19.95 per year for Lifers (including Grandfathers). That's not set in stone.

Closer to the model that software companies use. When you buy a license to use their software, most of the time that doesn't mean all the future versions of the software will be free. You can choose to use the one you paid for and never pay another dime, or buy their latest and greatest with all the new bells and whistles.

So, Grandfathered and Lifetime members will have access to the same things they've always had and more "until they die", as you put it, but that won't extend to "everything the site ever has to offer". Some of those things will cost extra and each person can decide for themselves whether or not they want them. Like batch-reading beyond "Next 10", for example. Or pretty detailed interface customization.

But we're really way ahead of ourselves here anyway. The iHub features that will be added to SI are still quite a ways off. Before I can even start on that, I need to port the front-end to the same platform I use for iHub. Only then will I be able to start adding features.

I don't want to be too blunt about it, but since we're all here because of a shared interest in the stock market, I don't think anyone will find this terribly offensive: I'm here not only to run a message board, but to run it profitably. And recurring revenues is a very important part of doing so.

Let me re-emphasize that existing Lifetime and Grandfathered members will never have to pay to use the site or any features of it that are currently available, aside from non-message-board items like Quotes which we may not keep. They will be able to, at their own discretion, pay a nominal annual fee to gain access to features the site isn't even close to having yet, or not.
