You completely ignore my central point, that the Phoenix Program was designed for the purpose of deterring the SOUTH Vietnamese from supporting the "Viet Cong". And that directly refutes your nonsense about America supporting democracy.

No.. I ignore you because you have shown yourself unable to make a credible, or truthful, point.

The Phoenix program was initiated to destroy the infrastrucutre of a hostile NON-DEMOCRATIC political movement, the Viet Cong...

The Viet Cong were communists. Being communists, there were diametrically opposed to any political parties outside of the official communist party. History leaves us a bloody and corrupt trail of so many other communist systems which could not tolerate rival political parties.

And Post-war Vietnam has shown the SAME THING.

Now were Phoenix members systematically eliminating members of non-communist rival political factions, then I would grant your point.

But the Viet Cong were heavily involved in assassinating S. Vietnamese village leaders and governmental officials. In fact, that was one of the primary strategies for undermining the S. Vietnamese government..

I'm not going to even pretend to sit here claiming that S. Vietnam's government was fully democratic.. Not a chance.

But it stood a hell of lot greater chance of evolving into a democracy than has been shown by every now-defunct communist government...

you get downright hostile at the simple idea that American sponsorship of Afghan rebels is akin to Soviet sponsorship of Vietnamese rebels.

You obviously have a problem with opposing communism and other forms or totalitarian government.

Do you even believe in representative government that is accountable to its citizens? Would you be willing to fight for such a government??

I sincerely doubt it..
