i started typing a long answer about an hour ago.
my longest post in a month...
all of a sudden, in mid-sentence, in the 23rd paragraph
(or 23rd psalm if you really belive i'm a poet) the page
changes to an advertisement for AOL. if this is the
work of SI bob - i'll get him for that!

That really does suck.

Within the realm of the internet not many things suck more.

It's happened to me numerous times.
Suddenly my PC freezes up or something while searching for
spelling or something on google to add to whatever it is
I'm writing.

It takes my heart out of it. Occasionally I try to rewrite
it but it never comes out the same way or not nearly as
good. It's like if I was a sculpter chipping away and
chipping away and then I tap a little too hard and the
whole thing crumbles to a pile of tiny pebbles. There's
nothing to do but explain how cool it would have been and
then write a quicky version of the reply.

Did I mention that I think it sucks?

<Clappy goes to press the "Submit" button but SIBob sees
this and quickly pulls out the jack which plugs his
servers into the internet.>

<Mad laughter can be heard from behind a computer rack in a
tiny cubby hole of a store front in Kansas City, MO.>

<Clappy sits and swears at his PC and begins to type out the
quicky version of this message to send to Polvo.>

P.S. As I try to send this, SI is actually on the fritz.
I pressed submit ten times and I continue to edit this as
I wait...

...and wait

...and wait

...and wa

travellin' man-

the short version did the trick.

i hadn't realized that the water
was only 15 feet deep - how wonderful
is that?? - i know, the snorkeling
question was dumb ... and dropping
the pick each night in and amongst
all those islands. it'll be like
having your own private lagoon.
you guys all know each other well
enough to be comfortable skinnydipping
right?

envy is not an attractive trait, but
i really do envy you this trip and
wish that harold and i were going with
you guys.

i know you're going to be very busy
with last minute stuff today, so i'll
wish you all a bon voyage now. send
a postcard saying "the weather is here,
wish you were beautiful". <vbg>

:)
