the natural death rate is NOT age-specific. And those soldiers who were dead were most likely bet. 20-45, and the ASDR for them is below 2 per 1000. and ASDR for people bet. 20-39 is below 1.4 per 1000.

And in Iraq: 150*2/52weeks = 5.77 per thousand

Significantly higher than normal.

US cohort in Iraq is aged 18-28 mostly, death rate for them is well under 5 per 1000. Also they are healthy when entering military.

Overall death rate includes 90 year old people and people with serious chronic conditions who would not qualify for military.

Still, rate is per low - maybe less than Oakland Police Department.
