Don't forget the AC savings. I have 2 monitors in my home office and I think they are rated at 300W each. I don't run the AC enough to worry and it heats my workspace in the winter, but it adds up in a large office where you need to buy a larger AC unit if everyone is running a 300W monitor. I think having laptops for most workers also helps on the AC costs.

Less landfill for flat panels too. :)

Brian, many laptops that can serve as desktop replacements are now under $ 1K, just slightly more than a desktop with flat panel display. siliconvalley.com

My next computer will be another laptop, even though I use it in place - mostly. Another advantage is it will work even after a power outage.
