one of the best things about the 90s from my point of view, was the generosity I witnessed from people I know wrt taxes and general public works projects that needed funding.

It was the first time in my life that I saw people willing to pay more for services we desperately need up here. A lot of school bond measures passed for some community colleges that haven't had their facilities upgraded since the 50s. The zoo bond passed and of course the SF baseball park.

Now we're broke again and nobody's voting for more taxes. But if times improve, hopefully people will get generous again.

nobody really supported Bush's tax plan, and the fact that it passed is really just a testament to how weak the democrats are. Its sad really.

There was a 60 minutes piece with Dole v Clinton a few weeks ago. Clinton blew Dole out of the water totally with a statement about healthcare and education upgrades for Iraq that we don't even have in the US. A good democrat could really drive this point home with the people, I'm sure this kind of presentation is exactly how Clinton was able to take G Bush I in 92. But now, there is nobody the dems have to make this case. So we're stuck with Bush.
