Its quite clear that there was a fair amt of dissention within Bush's own party on this tax cut. He asked for twice the cut he got. It was the republicans that cut it down to size, after all the republicans rule both houses. The only reason Bush got anything is he went out on this door to door campaign in the midwest and convinced a bunch of people there were jobs attached to this cut.

I have no idea why you are so defensive when it comes to Bush's policies. Is there anything, at any time, ever, that you thought was not the best possible solution for the world at large that Bush supported? Doesn't sound like it. In your opinion, is Bush the greatest president this country has ever had?
