"...what useful or interesting observations or conclusions can be drawn from that fact? Is there any way to test that idea, or benefit from the knowledge about alepha?"

Well, lets first imagine that we have just discovered for the first time this entity we are calling alepha. Wouldn't the next step be to look at the theories and assumptions we have always held about how things work. As we do, we may find keys to open new doors of knowledge, discovery and novel applications of energy. Perhaps we can find methods to produce power for consumers that are not dependent upon fuels and methods that have poluting side effects.

"Is there any way to test that idea,..."
There are three approaches to dealing with the notion of alepha. 1) The null approach...where you must prove the idea that heat is a form of energy and that there is no alepha that is a separate entity, 2) Find physical evidence of the alepha entity itself, 3)The mad scientist approach; Act on the assumption that alepha exists.

Number 1 and 2 are not do-able IMO. To do number 3, you would need some framework of action.

My only interest, so far, is in the plausibility of the existence of alepha.
