This thread was created to replace the Gold Price Monitor thread
as a place where the off topics, and general garbage dumping
that has taken over that thread, could be left behind.
.
It did not happen.
The GPM thread remains in a corrupted state.
But good news has just happened.
The following new thread is what the GPM thread was meant to be.

> Is there any sharing of fundamental or technical thoughts regarding gold, gold mining stocks, or indexes on this thread?

I've thrown out a few on topic thoughts over the last few years,
but GPM has become "I'm right, your're an idiot, and visa versa"

Recently I have mentioned:

Gold ETFs as a viable purchase method to increase physical demand
Warned of paying ridiculous premiums for closed end funds

Mentioned several new mines coming on line (more supply)

Posted P&F links for Gold and XAU

Talked about XAU lagging gold (much higher last June when gold was lower)

Talked about strong dollar and negative impact on RSA margins
(more recently impact of strong Canadian dollar)

Mentioned very high AU/AG ratio, since gold has not been capable of dragging silver up (as it can do in a real bull market)

Posted quite a few charts and URLs along the way, too.

GPM was never intended for individual stocks, so I try to avoid discussion of specific shares.

This is gold price monitor lizard threadneedle grubstreet thread. It is place for people to exchange insults, revive old animosities talk about sports and politics, and make fun of each other's religion. Background is, E Charters is always right, and knows everything, gole_tooter understands money and gold slightly, stroke that, a lot better than Milt Friedman or Alan Greenspan, but she voted for both George Bush and Al Gore in different states. Since she is a dual citizen that is not illegal. WF Godot and Lucretius think everybody arguing endlessly that paper is a scam are silly, and they get a teenage kick out of throwing rotten fruit at most posters. Some posters here think they are at a political meeting and others that they are in church. Once in a while somebody mentions the the word gold. Nobody can remember why it is occasionally mentioned, but it seems to be an old tradition with cave dwellers in these parts as it is seen on the cave walls when you enter the tar pit. Gold. Seems odd. Once in a while someone tries to get the new cave dwellers to talk about what affects or predicts the price of gold. They may offer some tidbits such as fourier and regression, the money supply, or supply and demand. Besides these buzzwords, the new cave dwellers will mouth the words quizzically, but then go back to munching on their bananas, and screeching about the weather and the interest rate. There is the odd sideshow about one poster who is writing a book on world war IV who accuses most posters of being naziis in drag. It has to do with a countereit gold ducat ring in in Alabama after the war. Could be oil money involved. Stay tuned.

So let's get started. Gold turns green if you rub it too much. It weighs about ten pounds or more. You can buy it at Kresges and comes in liquid form for cleaning drains. Right now the price is awfully high. If you think it is high, you are either a wimp or a fool. If you think it is low, you are either a anencephalic troll, or a hopeless dreamer.

Which is it?
