I think it is more likely that Cher and Madonna would fight over going out with George Bush than MSFT buying AOL. The importance of today's announcement was not so much the money or the 7 year free usage, but the promise of future co-operation in digital media, etc. There is a revolution going on. its called the internet. phase one (98-2000) was ebullient and reckless youth. late 2000-2002 was sobering up and burying dead friends. 2003 is seeing the revival of the potential. broadband, video conferencing, digital media, send live video over email and/or IMs, video on demand, convergence tv/phones/computer, new paradigm of "check the web" for movies, news, shopping, info. just the beginning my friend, just the beginning. bells talk of fatter pipes, huge growth in broadband, (europe broadband up 140% in one year).
