To truly understand the new highs- new lows, I think we have to look at it in conjunction with the Advance/Decline line.

I respectfully disagree. I agree that to assess the market and predict its future we need to look at more than just New Highs and New Lows, which is, I believe the real point of your message.

Nothing that happened prior to May 30, 2002 has any bearing whatsoever on the current rate of New Highs or New Lows. They are measured relative to the past year's ranges. If that were not the case, we would not be seeing the elevated number of New Highs we are seeing now. There would be very few, and we would not be seeing very many again for a very long time.
