David, since others say they don't get a large amount of spam, I wonder if you ever put your email address in a post?

The other possibility is if it is a common name. I have a couple of domains where I get "anyone@xyz.com" in my mailbox. Pick any common first name. Say, "David". I get spam on that.

(Actually, I have it filtered on the server so that I only get mail for specific mailboxes. Plus it goes through Spambouncer first. Still, I get maybe 50 spams a day that get through. Spambouncer probably filters out 100 spams an HOUR. Putting your e-mail address anywhere public - unavoidable if you are a website administrator - pretty-much insures mountains of spam.)

I setup a Hotmail account for 'secondary' use some time ago. Really never used it BUT I was getting more & more SPAM from day one to the current day. I was using all of the tools available to Filter for Bulk, SPAM, etc. . . . was STILL a lot of activity! It began to be a real chore just to keep the spam deleted! It seemed to build up faster than I could delete it! Complaining to Hotmail was a useless waste of time. . . after all, their system was flawless and they didn't want to be bothered with the overhead expense to have people answering email! Then, Microsoft had the GAUL to tell me that it was taking so much disk space, they were going to charge me for all that SPAM space! The decision was clear. . . I wiped out the whole package! It was more trouble than it was worth!

I guess SI email had the same problem, but to a lesser extent.

Joe
