That's not the impression that you give, but there is a world of difference between the two positions.

Specific knowledge coupled with a failure to respond would constitute criminal negligence. OTOH if only a general awareness that "something big" was on the horizon then what would you have had them do? You can't argue that the kinds of post 911 security measures should have been in place before 911 and then turn around and bitch that the security measures now are too much. You can't have it both ways, unless nothing they could do or say would be enough for you, which seems to be the case. What do you think would have been different if Gore had been in power?
