Yes, journalists are judged by the accuracy...and the density...or omission, or actual lying, or plagerism....(CNN Eason Jordan, and the NYT recently in several incidents....)

Politicians USUALLY don't get reelected if they totally screw up. (note I said usually...of course there are many exceptions ~~i.e. Robert Byrd...Louie Long (now dead), Jim McDermott, etc...) Carter was a very nice man, and a very bad President. LBJ and McNamera defined "not telling the truth" to Americans or the world....We didn't support Ho Chi Min so eventually he turned to the Communists....we sent our Military over, but didn't support them AT ALL! We lost thousands of our troops because of this non support policy. He bowed out. He knew he wouldn't get reelected. Its been a very long time since we've had a President who wants to do a good job, for the Nation's best interests.

We do have one now.

After all, the ONLY job a President really has is in the US Constitution..."To Provide for the Common Defense."

Journalists come, and go.

Journalists are judged by the accuracy of their reporting and the density of their interpretations; politicians are judged by their ability to get elected and reelected
