I understand, xcr. Note my, umm, note in that post, where I said I wasn't commenting on the moral issues, rather positing a practical question on the economic ones.

Economic inequities are an important test of our personal and societal ethics, IMO. NOT saying everyone should be the same (I have this argument with my rather socialist mother), just that there's something wrong with people like J Lo buying $5K face cream/$15K hair styles while there are people around the world - and in her own city - who don't have the basics of life. This is a huge issue, involving not just economic but health and workplace safety inequities (chemical bath safety in chroming facilities, for example, or air filled with fibres from the looms in clothing factories, and so on). It's just this isn't the thread to discuss those issues on.
