[I]s it you want our enemies to fear us, or is it really respect you're looking for?

Before 9/11, I'd have said respect or what passes for it in the world of international relations. Now, I think we should focus on fear, plain and simple.

I have never seen where strength, predicated on fear, gets long term results.

Our enemies already hate us; am I to believe that they acted with some form of restraint up to and including September 11th, 2001? It's time, in my opinion, for leaders of those particular governments and ideologies to experience the kind of paralyzing, mind numbing, soul-consuming fear that they typically reserve for their charges and noncombatants.

Gov'ts that hate us have a vested interest in preserving the status quo that's why they never let their hate hurt their own self interest. Saddam was no different; that made the war in Iraq a waste of our time and money.

Our true enemies are political/religious ideologues. They fear no one. The best you can do is gain their respect and that happens rarely. The ideologues who are our enemies neither fear nor respect us. They are very dangerous to our well being.

Thanks for the offer........however, with this thread, its too much the home of the loyal opposition.

For me, that's true from both sides, which is another reason why I don't visit terribly often. I don't have much in common with either the Republicrats or the Demolicans.

That's a copout I used to use........if you don't believe in either party, then believe in your country and stand up for what's right. American apathy could end up killing us.

Have a good one!
