James > "the one for the many" will hopefully insure that all Iraq will have a just government that doesn't enslave its citizens

The idea of Iraq having a just government, let alone democracy, is another one of the fantasy reasons given to justify an illegal occupation. Truth is, the war isn't anywhere near over and, in fact, may only have just started.

>>>General William Wallace is the man directly responsible for Baghdad and all the other hot spots where American soldiers were killed and wounded this week. In an interview with CBS News’ David Martin he said the battle against diehard Saddam Supporters is turning into urban guerrilla warfare.

“Today we’re dealing with an enemy that seems to be falling into the population, taking advantage of his ability to meld into the population,” said Wallace.<<<

>>>“The war has not ended,” Lt. Gen. David McKiernan, commander of Coalition Joint Task Force-7, said during a press conference in Baghdad.

“These are not criminal activities, but combat activities and we’ll address them with every means we can.”<<<

>>>The commander of coalition ground forces in Iraq said Thursday he may soon send more troops to areas where U.S. forces have been attacked. But officers and senior enlisted men in the unit insist their equipment isn't battle ready, and say soldiers' lives may be needlessly put at risk.

Lt. Gen. David McKiernan told reporters the Army's 3rd Infantry Division, which had been planning to return to the United States in June, would stay in Iraq until commanders decide they are no longer needed. Around 140,000 U.S. troops now occupy the country.

U.S. forces have been targeted with everything from land mines to rocket-propelled grenades as they try to enforce a post-invasion peace. They have also come under pressure, both in Iraq and overseas, to make the country's lawless cities safe again. <<<

It seems the truth is a very different story from the propaganda.

"This is going to be a domino effect (IMO) that will bring the fanaticists down in Iran,Saudi Arabia and other fundamentalist strongholds."

That may be, but if it happens, the domino effect will be a direct result of the US.

I am watching the "Capital Gang" on CNN, complete with Bob Novak, the ultra conservative that also hosts the show Crossfire. I was shocked when he said that it is US imperialistic tendency that has created the Iraq situation and is causing the rhetoric in Iran. His comment "we should cool it".

I'm not sure if I've ever agreed with him before, if so it was seldom, but tonight he is dead right.

Good old Richard Perle is on the same show. Just the other day he was quoted to the effect that Bush doesn't know very much, but he has the confidence to ask questions, proving he doesn't know very much.

Cheers,
