TD,

Thanks for that thoughtful discussion of the BW data. Al Franken is going to be coming out with a new book in the fall, which is covering some of this same ground.

He was a participant in a most astonishing extemporaneous piece of TV today. And you get a chance to see it this evening. The hour featured Al Franken attacking Bill O'Reilly with Molly Ivins pitching in to expose the rotten lying heart of the vast right wing conspiracy. It repeats at 10:15 PM CDT in Texas on C-SPAN 2. (Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that C-SPAN is now offering a web based simulcast of this.)

To highlight one of Franken's jokes, he spoke of how statistics never lie, but can provide some interesting fact cases. For instance, if we were to extrapolate the job creation during the Bush I and Bush II administration and apply their job creation rate to the entire history of the U.S.A., Franken asserts that no one would have worked a single day in the entire history of our nation...

BTW, a little bit of html editing information for your future use....

In order to maintain columns in text on SI, there is an html tag that does the trick.

For example:

(First number being Federal Revenue Change in Billions and Second number is ONE-Year Job Change in Millions)

TAX ACT: FRB Reserve One Year
Change in Job Change
In $Billions In Millions
Revenue Act of 1978..... -11.5 +2.8
Economic "RECOVERY" Tax Act of 1981 -38.3 -2.1
Omnibus Budget +24.3 +3.7
Reconciliation Act of 1993
Tax Reform Reconciliation Act of 2001 -73.8 -1.4
Job Creation/Worker -51.2 -0.3
Assistance Act of 2002

The tag is < pre > fixed text < /pre >

[Remove spaces in tags to have html take effect.]
