Happy June 1st. :-)

"All we need?, I guess, is Costco, Trader Joes, Sears, Cost Plus World Markets, Macys, and not but not least Raley's "

We don't visit Sears much, but I have to add EBAY to that list. Or maybe that's just a very big want <GG> But I do use it a lot for my job. I've bought some excellent videos on Ebay to use in my classes. I got both versions of Animal Farm on Ebay, and both versions of Lord of the Flies as well. I find movies really sink data into young minds- which makes me totally worried about all the schlock those young minds are usually tuning in to. Sigh. I have just completed the Antigone/Animal Farm portion of my class- and on Monday I will start showing the film East/West to show them how desperate people really were in Russia. We went over all the history of the rise of communism in Russia, but they don't really get how oppressive it was- because Animal Farm is such a cartoon (for them). So I am hoping if they see East/West they will get the idea of how oppressive and how scary it can be. If you haven't seen East/West I recommend it highly. Dark Blue World deals with the same themes- I wish I could have shown both- but East/West is more brutally oppressive all the way through. and it is the oppression (and duplicity) of the former USSR that I want to get across- in order to cement the lessons of Animal Farm in my students brains.

And now it's time to go out and enjoy the world. See you later Coug.
