I was wondering if you'd ever tested your indicators on those rare "overbought thrusts" that can begin a bull phase.

Some of the components of my model cannot be backtested to those big major market transitions, but it is very possible that the model would have performed poorly at those times. The model did participate well in the 1998 short down/up cycle, the 1999 big run-up, and in the transition to a bear market in 2000. All systems have their good times and bad times, but one sure way to underperform the market is to go against your system when it is performing poorly. I've learned that lesson previously more than once (I'm a slow learner).
