"As for your questions about Israel, they are all some variant of "when did you stop beating your wife?" ie "were any of the illegal settlements there before 1967?" To answer them as asked is to admit guilt."

If you beat your wife/husband/neighbor/whatever then the question is legitimate.

<neither of which can be headed by an old terrorist>

Why not? Lots of countries have been led by old terrorists.
Especially new countries.
Especially new countries that had to fight wars to get their independence.
Countries like Israel.
It would take a lot of fancy re-definitions,
and a wholesale editing of history,
to deny that Begin was a terrorist, pre-independence,
before going on to become Prime Minister of Israel.

And what about the U.S.?
George Washington, the holiest in the Founding Fathers pantheon,
go look up what he did during the Revolutionary War, to those Indian tribes in upper New York,
who allied with the British.
Pretty much the same thing the Serbs did in Bosnia recently.
Except George did it a lot more thoroughly.
Look it up.
