<I suspect that Q would say that in the early 90's and mid 90's, their shrill and combative tone in the advance of CDMA was necessary. They had to win some adoption decisions in countries besides Korea. Similiarly, I suspect in a private moment Q would acknowledge that their claims for CDMA performance were too high and too early in those years.>

Propitious, I first met QUALCOMM people in August 1991 and have watched and listened closely ever since. I have never seen shrill and combative. I have never seen excessive claims for CDMA performance. Timeliness has been excellent, though there was up to two years delay in developing CDMA. That's not bad for such a large project in a 6 year development project for something which experts claimed couldn't be done and it breached the laws of physics.

The worst I saw was what could be wishful thinking of modest proportions.

Shrill, exaggerated claims and combativeness would NOT have attracted my Tonka Truckload of hard-earned money. It was precisely the opposite that I saw.

I suspect you've mistaken media assertions for the real thing. Journalists are not bearers of truth. Neither are tv people or their ilk. Shrill, exaggerated, combative and cynical ranting is to be found in the journalistic world, not in the world of QUALCOMM.

Sorry to make a meal of a single sentence, but it's a hot button for me. For the rest of your post, thanks again for the detail. It's much appreciated.

BTW, long posts are good posts. [Ignore Ramsey if he has anything to say on the matter]
