oohh somebody stepped in something out in Asia. Bad bad bad.. gold was supposed to trend upward. We may have to wait til later in the week for a sudden sharp rise to 380.

Why? I haven't the faintest idea why. Why questions are not to be asked at work, in a court, or when you really want the answer. The question to ask is given on of two equally unlikely contributing factors, which one will it most likely ignore in its monotonous trend towards revealing the dollar to be so much Canadian Tire money.
When Yankee buck is 50 cents to the Kronor, Riechsmark, Yen, Sfranc, and canuck buck, it is time for gold to reveal that is its worth about 650. What we are seeing is gold-dollar hysterisis. Gold has riz for 2 years, now it the buck's turn to show where it lies. Gold will follow again. Disinflation will only be temporary as import prices skyrocket and interest rates, rock bottom cannot react to save the situation. Ergo we are in for one more round of inflation. Then deflation, but gold will not wilt.
