John, no sense in going into the whole Microsoft affair here, except to note that Microsoft achieved dominance through anti-competitive behavior--somewhat similar to the "help" or "incentives" given to companies or countries to adopt GSM instead of CDMA. As you point out, superior technology doesn't always win, but for inferior technology to win often requires "help." Art
