Frank,
Thank you for your comments in both posts. The ADSL2 looks very promising on paper and it will be interesting to see how the actual performance compares with marketing stats. I have seen the platoon techs before. While you can buy multiple lines now and use software to manage the IP, it will be interesting to see of more formal offerings are made by the carriers....and electric utilities. I have always thought that for less than 1 GbE, all electrical management and net architecture would be copper based (Cat 5 more than twisted pair) for enterprise, data center and even some access networks (there is some hope of 10 GbE over copper). ADSL2 may extend the copper reach at the 20 mbps speed and multiple lines could provide 40 mbps. This seems like a bridging tech to faster speeds. I realize the distance issues becomes a big problem. This ultimately favores fiber. But I believe copper will be very useful for some time. If only because of the challenges found be some of the up the riser companies of yesteryear.

Any thoughts on the ATT award to Seimens?
