In fact, I hadn't heard of Chomsky before FADG and some earlier comments here...so, sorry...didn't want to put words in your mouth. >>>>>> So I'm neither friend or foe when it comes to Chomsky.<<<<< Re your thoughts here: I tend to use "radical right wing" as both. At least until I can find a better set of words. Who do I include? Well, like every category, it gets a bit mushy at the borders. And it does encompass some different motives. Shared views, however, are their social/moral views coupled with the use of a strong federal government to enforce them. It's the linkage of this group that wishes to have a stronger federal government with the "cut the taxes" crowd that wishes to have a smaller federal government, that's the intriguing political thing. Generally, the latter crowd don't share the moral views of the former. So, there are certainly tensions. How about right and left....then right wing and left wing...or conservative and liberal.... It's the adjectives that are the question. "radical right wing" to me are the folks like Robert Eric Rudolph, or Ted Kazinski (??sp) the Unabomber, or Robert Byrd when he was a chief of the KKK.... "radical left wing" to me is someone like Ramsey Clark or Chomsky. Luckily for all of us, there aren't lots of either kind of "labels"... As far as your other comments above, could you re-run them again to me. I must be too tired tonight. IMO, most Republicans want smaller Government, fewer taxes, and a strong National Defense. After all, that IS what the President of the US is charged with over all...."to provide for the Common Defense"... Most Democrats seem to want a large Government, cradle to grave, and large taxes to pay for the Government largesse. When the parties and the citizens are so evenly divided, as in the recent election, we seem to be governed by compromise.
