You're ultimately arguing for the moral equivalence between terrorism and fighting terrorism. In fact, I would suppose you would prefer the word terrorist not even be used. We see this very different.

Instead of arguing theoretical issues, I'll just comment on a few specific things you said. First:

Re. the West Bank settlements - I'd generally agree these are provocative and create dangerous situations. They are pretty hard to defend. It's easy to say the settlements cause terrorism but I think its worth noting that terror bombing only began relatively recently though the settlements have been there for several decades. The big changes in the West Bank that preceded the terror bombing was 1)the establishment of the PA and giving it control over big chunks of the West Bank and 2)the willingness of an Israeli government to dismantle most of the settlements.

Second:
In the Vietnam War, what was the ratio between American civilians killed by Vietcong, and Vietnamese civilians killed by our soldiers? 10,000 to one? 100,000 to one? Yet, we were constantly demonizing the Vietcong for their "uncivilized" methods.

Well, there weren't any American civilians available for VietCong to kill. As I recall Viet Cong were demonized for violence against Vietnamese peasants. I suspect the Vietcong killed a lot more Vietnamese civilians than Americans did.
