Company announces it will offer employees voluntary early retirement and severance programs during
FY04 as part of resizing FedEx Express division, attempts to improve profitability. FDX still sees sluggish economy, issues preannouncement for Q1 (Aug), sees EPS of $0.52-0.60 vs
Reuters Research consensus of $0.62, Y04 (May) EPS of $3.00-3.15, consensus $3.15. Guidance excludes charge resulting from early retirement and severance programs.

Finally..... and we are just seeing the tiniest tip of a gigantic iceberg with this situation! I suspect that once the SEC gets its hands on a few files, we will see many more announcements of this type.
