Jesus was very practical about financial matters while he was here on this earth ... and wasn't married.

He certainly doesn't need any money or loan since He owns it all. <ng>

>24 When they came to Capernaum, those who collected (22) the [2] two-drachma tax came to Peter and said, "Does your teacher not pay (23) the two-drachma tax?"
25 He said, "Yes." And when he came into the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, "What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth collect (24) customs or (25) poll-tax, from their sons or from strangers?"
26 When Peter said, "From strangers," Jesus said to him, "Then the sons are exempt.
27 "However, so that we do not (26) offend them, go to the sea and throw in a hook, and take the first fish that comes up; and when you open its mouth, you will find [3] a shekel. Take that and give it to them for you and Me."
<<

>>13 Someone in the crowd said to Him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the family inheritance with me."
14 But He said to him, "(16) Man, who appointed Me a judge or arbitrator over you?"
15 Then He said to them, "(17) Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions."<<

>>16 And He told them a parable, saying, "The land of a rich man was very productive.
17 "And he began reasoning to himself, saying, 'What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?'
18 "Then he said, 'This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
19 'And I will say to my soul, "Soul, (18) you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry."'
20 "But God said to him, '(19) You fool! This very night (20) your soul is required of you; and (21) now who will own what you have prepared?'
21 "So is the man who (22) stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."
22 And He said to His disciples, "(23) For this reason I say to you, do not worry about your life, as to what you will eat; nor for your body, as to what you will put on.
23 "For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.
24 "Consider the (24) ravens, for they neither sow nor reap; they have no storeroom nor (25) barn, and yet God feeds them; how much more valuable you are than the birds!
25 "And which of you by worrying can add a single [1] (26) hour to his [2] life's span?
26 "If then you cannot do even a very little thing, why do you worry about other matters?
27 "Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; but I tell you, not even (27) Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.
28 "But if God so clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you? (28) You men of little faith!
29 "And do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not (29) keep worrying.
30 "For all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things.
31 "But seek His kingdom, and (30) these things will be added to you.
32 "(31) Do not be afraid, (32) little flock, for (33) your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.
33 "(34) Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves money belts which do not wear out, (35) an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near nor moth destroys.
34 "For (36) where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

To be honest -- borrowing and usury are both discouraged in the Bible. And I wholeheartedly concur -- that said -- there a legitimate reasons to borrow funds. Maybe, just maybe, keeping up with the Jones' ain't one of them ...

And since we talk a lot about precious metals and barabaric relics here .... Proverbs 2 --

1
My son, if you will (1) receive my words
And (2) treasure my commandments within you,
2
(3) Make your ear attentive to wisdom,
Incline your heart to understanding;
3
For if you cry for discernment,
Lift your voice for understanding;
4
If you seek her as (4) silver
And search for her as for (5) hidden treasures;

5
Then you will discern the (6) fear of the LORD
And discover the knowledge of God.
6
For (7) the LORD gives wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.
7
He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
He is a (8) shield to those who walk in integrity,
8
Guarding the paths of justice,
And He (9) preserves the way of His godly ones.
9
Then you will discern (10) righteousness and justice
And equity and every (11) good course.
10
For (12) wisdom will enter your heart
And (13) knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;
11
Discretion will (14) guard you,
Understanding will watch over you,
12
To (15) deliver you from the way of evil,
From the man who speaks (16) perverse things;
13
From those who (17) leave the paths of uprightness
To walk in the (18) ways of darkness;
14
Who (19) delight in doing evil
And rejoice in the perversity of evil;
15
Whose paths are (20) crooked,
And who are devious in their ways;
16
To (21) deliver you from the strange woman,
From the (22) adulteress who flatters with her words;
17
That leaves the (23) companion of her youth
And forgets the (24) covenant of her God;
18
For (25) her house sinks down to death
And her tracks lead to the dead;
19
None (26) who go to her return again,
Nor do they reach the (27) paths of life.
20
So you will (28) walk in the way of good men
And keep to the (29) paths of the righteous.
21
For (30) the upright will live in the land
And (31) the blameless will remain in it;
22
But (32) the wicked will be cut off from the land
And (33) the treacherous will be (34) uprooted from it.

check out the exorbitant rates that Nehemiah up in arms ...

Usury Abolished

1 Now (1) there was a great outcry of the people and of their wives against their (2) Jewish brothers.
2 For there were those who said, "We, our sons and our daughters are many; therefore let us (3) get grain that we may eat and live."
3 There were others who said, "We are mortgaging our fields, our vineyards and our houses that we might get grain because of the famine."
4 Also there were those who said, "We have borrowed money (4) for the king's tax on our fields and our vineyards.
5 "Now (5) our flesh is like the flesh of our brothers, our children like their children. Yet behold, (6) we are forcing our sons and our daughters to be slaves, and some of our daughters are forced into bondage already, and we are helpless because our fields and vineyards belong to others."
6 Then I was very (7) angry when I had heard their outcry and these words.
7 I consulted with myself and contended with the nobles and the rulers and said to them, "(8) You are exacting usury, each from his brother!" Therefore, I held a great assembly against them.
8 I said to them, "We according to our ability (9) have redeemed our Jewish brothers who were sold to the nations; now would you even sell your brothers that they may be sold to us?" Then they were silent and could not find a word to say.
9 Again I said, "The thing which you are doing is not good; should you not walk in the fear of our God because of (10) the reproach of the nations, our enemies?
10 "And likewise I, my brothers and my servants are lending them money and grain. Please, let us leave off this usury.
11 "Please, give back to them this very day their fields, their vineyards, their olive groves and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money and of the grain, the new wine and the oil that you are exacting from them."
12 Then they said, "We (11) will give it back and (12) will require nothing from them; we will do exactly as you say." So I called the priests and (13) took an oath from them that they would do according to this promise.
13 I (14) also shook out the front of my garment and said, "Thus may God shake out every man from his house and from his possessions who does not fulfill this promise; even thus may he be shaken out and emptied." And (15) all the assembly said, "Amen!" And they praised the LORD. Then the people did according to this promise.

Nehemiah's Example

14 Moreover, from the day that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from (16) the twentieth year to the (17) thirty-second year of King Artaxerxes, for twelve years, neither I nor my kinsmen have eaten the governor's food allowance.
15 But the former governors who were before me laid burdens on the people and took from them bread and wine besides forty shekels of silver; even their servants domineered the people. But I did not do so (18) because of the fear of God.
16 I also [1] applied myself to the work on this wall; we did not buy any land, and all my servants were gathered there for the work.
17 Moreover, (19) there were at my table one hundred and fifty Jews and officials, besides those who came to us from the nations that were around us.
18 Now (20) that which was prepared for each day was one ox and six choice sheep, also birds were prepared for me; and once in ten days all sorts of wine were furnished in abundance. Yet for all this (21) I did not demand the governor's food allowance, because the servitude was heavy on this people.
19 (22) Remember me, O my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people.
