I probably want to know how satisfied are the parents and the students? If they are happy, then there is nothing to fix even if the education standard has been lowered. If they ain't, perhaps the problem lies in the schools.

I'm all for replacing public schools with a voucher system. When parents and students become empowered consumers, they will know what's best for them.

The puzzling thing about education is that while we have the worst k-12 system in the world, our colleges are absolutely first class. Apparently the colleges are doing something right and I think it's the producer/consumer relationship that ensures satisfaction for both sides. So why not learn from the colleges and make schools choice-based?
