It costs the same amount of R&D to cut the cost of something from $20 down to $10 as it does to cut that same thing down from $200 to $100 further up the evolutionary path.

Law of diminishing returns?

Huh?

I was questioning the premise, which is one of the baldest hypergeneralities I've ever read at SI, and I've seen some megawhoppers.

Mind citing a reference or two?

Mind defining the kind of widgets that we're talking about?

Mind telling us the basis of your expertise in R&D cost accounting that allows you to issue such a broad all-encompassing statement?

Oh, forget it, I know you're just blowing it out of your keyboard.
