Let me see..........James Byrd was dragged behind a car by some good ole boys because he was black and Renee Mullins, Byrd's daughter is complaining because Bush would not sign some hate crime legislation. She saw her father's killing to be an example of a hate crime, and she saw the proposed hate crime legislation as making up in some small way for the horrible way her father died. So when GW refused to support the legislation, she felt he was unsympathetic to her cause...........and you're surprised she's angry? Let me tell you.........lately you've complained a great deal about the treatment the GOP gets.............that they get branded racists, nazis, fascists, pond scum, etc., or their behavior is described as angry, duplicitous, condescending, arrogant, dishonest, vitriolic, truculent etc. Well, it looks to me like the latter behavior has a lot to do with the former name calling, and that where there is smoke, there is usually fire. And as for the name calling and the ugly adjectives used on this thread to describe Reps., you need to point your finger at your colleagues. It was not the liberals on this thread who began their posting by calling the conservatives idiots or stupid or dishonest or liars or unAmerican or unpatriotic. I've seen that kind of exchange in political ads but I never realized it pervaded the rank and file. For the first time on the SI threads, I felt the need to put people on "Ignore". So long as the Rep. honors and supports people like Gingrich, Delay, Rumsfield, Sanatorum, Lott, Perle, Wolfowitz etc, and acts as if it believes its superior to all others, then I would suggest that you should not be surprised if "those others" don't take it lying down. Frankly, I am angry that the Dems have taken as much shit from the Reps as they have {see my recent post of Raspberry's article}. The kind of response Bush is getting from Germany and France and to a lesser degree, Russia, is the kind of response Reps. in Congress deserve from the Dems. ted
