Renee Mullins and the NAACP where not just "unsympathetic" they pretty much called Bush a racist and linked him with the racists who killed James Byrd.
That's not "unsympathetic" its dishonest and ugly.

I didn't say she was unsympathetic to Bush; I said he was unsympathetic to her situation. And "pretty much" is not calling someone racist.

And why aren't you asking why Bush did not support the hate crime legislation? How would you feel if your father had been killed by racists and the governor of your state refused to support legislation that might discourage people from committing such crimes in the future. Are you telling me you would not be pissed?

And had it been the other way around and it was an issue dear to their hearts, the Reps. would not have held back and minced words but would have called the subject of their attack unAmerican, unpatriotic, commie, Saddam lover or something worse.

My God, the TX Reps., egged on by T. Delay, caused the Texas Dem. legislators to leave the state, and when the Reps. couldn't find them, they asked Homeland Security, a national agency set up to protect Americans from terrorist attacks, to track them down. What a crock of BS.......whether the Dems. were acting irresponsibly or not, the issue should not have gone that far......but it did because Reps. are over the top with their issues.

So please.....don't complain to me because a black woman hinted that Bush is a racist. If anyone is at fault, its probably the hard line conservatives who support him and tell him not to get behind such legislation. Take it up with the them......they're probably the heart of the problem.

Frankly, I am angry that the Dems have taken as much shit from the Reps as they have

They get as much shit as they get largely because they are so good at shoveling it out.

Maybe..........or maybe there is no reasoning with Reps. when there is a disagreement. I've seen how the Reps. treat their own. First, the Senator from NH who bolted the party. Then the senator from RI........more recently, the senator from OH. Everytime a Rep. doesn't agree with some aspect of the party agenda, they get trashed. The latest trashing was done by Bush himself. I am hearing more and more that moderate Reps. feel uncomfortable expressing their views. Who can blame them? And you wonder why there are references to Hitler.

Instead of blaming the Dems., you might look at how the Reps. express their views and go about getting what they want.
