Given the scenario, its a logical conclusion. And why aren't you asking why Bush did not support the hate crime legislation? Because supporting it would be wrong. Why?But if you disagree with that fine, we disagree on many other things, but what I object to is the implication that it is racist to be against hate crime laws. Where did it say they thought Bush was racist? The daughter was angry he did not support the hate crime legis. The author of the article suggested that Bush was "soft on racism".As for the Republicans in the TX legislature, to the extent that I understand what happened, I agree they where over the top, but I fail to see the relevance. Or is it ok for Dems to do anything hateful or over the top as a long as you can think of an example of Republicans being over the top? No, but Reps are more likely to practice Extreme Politics than Dems. If anyone is at fault, its probably the hard line conservatives who support him and tell him not to get behind such legislation. Take it up with the them......they're probably the heart of the problem. There not the problem they are right on this issue. But even if they where wrong, that is one of the ugliest and most unfair political adds that I have heard about, at least, in America on the national level and since I was old enough to follow politics. I don't get why you see that commercial as something horrible and a terrible bash against Bush. What I see is that her father's death was one of the two worst hate crimes in this country; the other was the gay guy who got crucified in Wyoming. Bush chose not to support hate crime legislation; thus her reaction.........which most would consider is a fairly normal one. If you can't understand from where she's coming and your only empathy is for Bush and not her father; then I don't understand how you think.Instead of blaming the Dems., you might look at how the Reps. express their views and go about getting what they want. They are far from perfect but not as bad as the Dems. Sorry.....but they are far worse. ted
