Little girl is fine - I was so sure it was a boy I was
calling her 'him' even after she was born - what a laugh :-)
James I once heard a man say that until you understand the
"covenants" you will not be able to understand the bible.

It is true - here is "my" classic example.

The bible says that the soul that sins will die and it
also says that all men have sinned except for Christ.

According to those verses no one goes to heaven
but here is the greatest "BUT" in the bible:

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death;
but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

There are TWO covenants.

The Covenant of Works
This covenant says "Obey and Live"
It was given to Adam and he failed but the Second Adam
- Christ Jesus succeeded ALONE to obey and live
according to all that was written in the Law.

The Covenant of Grace
This covenant says "Believe and Live"
The controversy comes in about what "believe" means even as
James points out in his epistle that even the 'devils believe'
This believing is not after the manner of 'works'.
Both sons of Abraham - the bond and the free "believed"
This believing is not of the flesh but of the spirit and
that is why it is called "saving faith" and a "gift".

Men cannot even, in their dead flesh, please God with what
they think intellectually or otherwise in their flesh.

Under the Covenant of Grace only those who "recieve" Christ
as a gift of faith and not an act of the will are saved.

These are know as the "Elect of God" - they do not vote but are
Elected unto salvation of(by) God
and their names were written in the book of life
before the world began.

In Romans 6:23 we see both covenants (brothers) sitting side by side.

The covenant of works:
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but

and God's gracious covenant of faith:
Romans 6:23 .. the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

That is why James - no other 'religion' will save men.

All other religions Islam and the like are based squarely upon
the covenant of works alone.

Their is no salvation outside of Christ even as the Scriptures plainly teach:

1 John 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

The Covenant of Grace:

1 John 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life

The Covenant of Works:
1 John 5:12 ... he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

Both of those Covenants are eternal.

Christ made a Covenant with the Father in Eternity past and The Father made a Covenant with His Son.

It went something like this:

*IF* you will take on a body of flesh and become as a man and over come the devil and the world then I will give you a bride.

That bride is the elect - the sheep - the true believers.

Christ promise to pay the penalty for sin = Death on behalf of His bride to make her as white as snow in the Fathers eyes.

NO false religion has any provision for sin but the true.

We alone have a remedy for our sins.

We escape the requirements of the Covenant of Works because He
fulfilled those demands on our behalf and we alone are granted the benefits of Christ's Atonement

I think there is a book called "Abraham had Two Sons" but I
have never read it.

Actually Abraham had 8 sons not just the 2 :-)

Gen 25:1 And Abraham took another wife, and her name was Keturah.

2 And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.

Thanks for your best wishes again James.

The "world" keeps telling me to go get FIXED

I keep telling them - that is not "fixed"
that is most surely very very "broken".
