The last 'terrorist' activity there is 1986 (or maybe 1985). Since then, as you say, Abu Nidal appears to have been a nasty little murder squad, doing assassinations

Gosh.. you seem very adamant toward becoming an Abu Nidal apologist.. You could care less about pursuing him for his crimes.. And you seem all too ready to excuse him for his attacks against the US, as well as Saddam's willingness to harbor him and his multi-hundred man organization..

So tell us Thames. If Abu Nidal was "retired", why did he need so many people working for him? And what were they involved in? Facilitating other terrorist groups, possibly?

It certainly was something of sufficient significance that Saddam felt compelled to eliminate him (and try to claim it was suicide).

And I could care less about whether its AQ, or some other terrorist group attacking the US. This is a "war on terror", not just a war on AQ (as you apparently would choose to limit it to)..

Frankly, it's time to "stir things up" in the middle and change the strategic power structure in order to bring some stability, and then hopefully some economic opportunity, to the region.

That means the continuing Arab-Israeli conflict has to be brought to a stop. Because it has clearly become to threaten the US and its interests.

And I didn't mean to be insulting... I'm just incredulous that people continue to focus solely on AQ, rather than all terrorism against the US.. As far as I'm concerned, AQ was just the straw that broke the camel's back and roused the "sleeping dragon" of American will.. (as I mix my metaphors)
