Yes, I do believe that the dysfunction of LA Unified and the students in it is efficiently segregated away from my kids who will go to a nice public school with kids who want to learn and parents who care. Silver Spoon? Hardly. My parents never saved money and I put myself through 6 years of college + graduate school on my own dime. Went to public schools too so I know their strengths and limitations. The idea that money and government programs can compensate for low socioeconomic status is a myth. There are exceptions to the rule but most apples don't land far from the tree. Conan
