No more mass casualties, no more is it usful to try to predict results from reviews of conflicts older than 10 years. Any country knows they will lose, and suddenly.

Yes, it has become apparent that for the next several years the US will have the decisive advantage of being able to "reach out and touch someone" without necessarily having to invade them.. Although that's still an option against smaller countries.

But I'll you what, no matter how many "force multipliers" we possess, there's still no way I want to ever face going up against a nation like China or Russia, or even N. Korea in a land battle.. The casualties would be tremendous for all sides involved.

Idle thinking tells me that perhaps Saudi Arabia, having supported Terrorists in the past is due for a cleansing

I still subscribe to the belief that this was the primary reason the US wanted to do away with Saddam's regime, although the fear of WMDs was a logical (and justifiable) pretext given his intransigence in the face of repeated US resolutions.

It also eliminated the greatest threat to Israel, lessening the fear they have of a combined Arab assault against them.

As for US troops leaving Saudi Arabia, that also eliminates the last remaining excuse for Wahhabist militants to agitate against the Saudi Government.. This respite should provide the necessary time and political "breathing space" for them the Saudis to crack down on these militants, and show us they are willing to back up their words with actions.
