Not a good experience. This was in a small town in the Sacramento Delta where we went for the maiden run of a 45' Hattaras after dry dock, taking 6 hours, returning to find the tricked-out Jeep CJ5 missing. My dark suspicion was the tow truck driver cruised for nicer vehicles to guarantee the bail, or at least nice parts if they didn't. We took pictures of the parking spot, which was what saved us since it was clearly a legal parking place and the operator didn't argue.

I've since heard the same story in San Francisco and elsewhere, that drivers get per-car fees and can pick up wherever they see an opportunity, as opposed to responding to complaints and being a public service.

It's funny that some people don't see the danger in predatory services either private or gov't, where the individual has less authority than the predator, who gets off scot-free.

Not "ha ha" funny, more like "OJ funny"
